ReachWMS Local Device & Printing Agent

Connect your local Zebra thermal label printers, barcode scanners, and shipping scales to ReachWMS. Runs as a secure, loopback-only background Windows service without requiring external firewall port exposure.

System Requirements

  • Windows 10, Windows 11, or Windows Server 2016+
  • x64 Architecture (64-bit)
  • Local Administrator privileges for initial service setup
  • USB or Ethernet Thermal Label Printer (Zebra ZPL, ESC/POS, TSPL)
  • No separate .NET runtime required (Self-Contained)

Security Architecture

  • Loopback-only listener (127.0.0.1:8488 / localhost:8088)
  • Zero public firewall inbound port exposure required
  • HMAC-SHA256 authenticated API requests using secret AgentToken
  • One-time 6-character pairing code with 15-minute expiration
  • Physical printing disabled by default (dry-run safety mode)

Step-by-Step Installation & Pairing

Run Installer

Execute ReachWMS-Device-Agent-Setup.exe as Administrator to install the Windows Service.

Copy Pairing Code

The setup completion window will display a 6-character one-time pairing code valid for 15 minutes.

Pair Workstation

In ReachWMS, open Devices & Printing and enter your pairing code to link your printers.

Troubleshooting & Diagnostic Verification

Checking Service Status:

Open Windows Services (services.msc) and confirm ReachWMS Device Agent status is Running.

Testing Local Health Endpoint:

Open http://localhost:8088/health or https://127.0.0.1:8488/health in your browser to inspect agent status.
